Your class is chosen at registration and defines your empire's strengths and weaknesses for the entire round. Each class has multipliers that affect resource income, combat effectiveness, population growth, and expansion rate. Engineers expand fast and defend well but hit weakly. Economists generate massive credit income. Miners produce double metal but very little power. Researchers unlock technology twice as fast. Soldiers hit hard and get discounts on ships and buildings but expand slowly. Standard is a balanced choice with boosted population growth. There is no best class — each rewards a different playstyle.
