Two advanced buildings can be unlocked through research. The Fusion Reactor produces twice the power of a standard reactor, and the Metal Foundry produces double the metal of a standard mine (though it consumes 300 extra power). Both are independent research projects with no prerequisites — you can research them in any order.

Scientists: 1,500 credits + 1 citizen each (750 for Researcher class). Can be assigned to active research, sellable RP generation, or income bonus research.
Sellable RP can be applied directly to any research project.
Once all 18 standard research items are completed, seven powerful late-game upgrades unlock. Each costs 1,000,000 RP and can be researched in any order.
